Thank you 2016 Gracias

2016...

Me reunió con amigos del pasado
Me llevó a San Francisco

2016...
Reunited me with friends from the past
Took me to San Francisco
Allowed me to harvest what I planted 4 years ago
Took me closer to Yoga and found my Guru
Freed me a little more from sadness and melancholy

My illustrations were published in 3 books
Freelance work rained
I did and art residency in a wonderful printmaking workshop
Met invaluable people

Left me ready for 2017

He's a lucky guy

Yet another tribute to Luc Besson's leading ladies.
This time Héléna form the film
Subway (1985).

Fred: Why do I love you?
Héléna: Because I'm an amazing woman.
Fred: Why don't you love me?
Héléna: Because I don't have the guts.
Fred: Are you lazy?
Héléna: Terribly.
Fred: Who does the cooking at your house?
Héléna: The cook.
Fred: And the housework?
Héléna: The housekeeper.
Fred: And the lovemaking?

Thanx for stopping by!

Mistletoe can be deadly if you eat it....

Catwoman: You're catnip to a girl like me. Handsome, dazed, and to die for.
Batman: Mistletoe can be deadly if you eat it.
Catwoman: But a kiss can be even deadlier if you mean it. You're the second man who killed me this week, but I've got seven lives left.
Batman: I tried to save you.
Catwoman: Seems like every woman you try to save ends up dead... or deeply resentful. Maybe you should retire.

When I was a kid I would ask my dad to rent Batman Returns over and over... I guess liked the darkness of the characters...

Love is worth saving

What's the use of saving life when you see what you do with it?

Perhaps the last post of the year,
my take on the fragile-badass-tough cookie Leeloo.

I'm almost done with my tribute to Luc Besson's leading-ladies.

Thank you for stopping by.

Sketch crawl Chilangolandia!

Cruzas el umbral y de repente te encuentras parado frente aquella obra monumental de piedra, mirándote fijamente....

You step inside the room and suddenly you find yourself standing in front of a monumental stone-work , staring directly at you...

Este es un tributo a nuestros antepasados, unas líneas sobre el papel y toda nuestra admiración...

This is a tribute to our ancestors, some lines on the paper and all our admiration....

Homo-Spiritualis....

"Traditional people, and I think the people of the Paleolithic had, very probably, two concepts that change our vision of the world. The concept of fluidity and the concept of permeability.

Fluidity means the categories that we have, man, woman, horse, tree, etc., can shift. A tree may speak. A man can get transformed into an animal and the other way around, given certain circumstances.

The concept of permeability is that there are no barriers, so to speak, between the world where we are and the world of spirits. A shaman, for example, can send his or her spirit to the world of the supernatural or can receive the visit of supernatural spirits. When you put those two concepts together, you realize how different life must have been for those people from the way we live now"

"Humans have been described in so many ways and for a while it was Homo-Sapiens, and it is still called Homo-Sapiens "the man who knows". I don't think is a good definition at all. We don't know much. I would think Homo-Spiritualis"

- Jean Clottes, french prehistorian

... awaiting ...

These creatures awaiting for something to happen...
I went sketching with Ben the other day, we sat at Yerbabuena Gardens and enjoyed the sun.

And not too long ago Chinny, Kike, Gue and I went to the beach,
here are some moments frozen in time...
Thanx for visiting!

Partout où nous allons, l'art

Wherever we go, Art

Over the summer, my friends invited to come along on a road trip to the magnificent Grand Canyon....  Here are a few sketches and stone sculptures I did along the way.
